Gordon has over 27 years’ experience as a qualified HCPC registered children’s social worker and trainer and is an experienced senior manager in both local authorities and charities across the UK. He has a track record in project management, partnership working, training and strategic and operational management and has for many years provided training in restorative approaches and communication skills, working with schools, Looked After Children services, Youth Offending Services, Troubled Families programmes, Commissioning and Early Help.
He has initiated and managed service development and transformation along with contract negotiation and management within national charities, local authorities and Government organisations. He has presented to a wide range of audiences across the UK and Europe and believes that strong interpersonal skills are essential for effective working with all people.
The common strand throughout Gordon's career has been his commitment to working with vulnerable children, young people and their families, helping them to develop the skills they need to improve their life circumstances. His professional practice is rooted in the principles of restorative approaches, community partnership work using strength-based approaches and the belief in the importance of early help.
