Maria Uragallo

Maria has over 30 years’ experience in the education sector. She began her career as a secondary English and humanities teacher, before moving into the primary sector. She has held varied posts throughout her career such as literacy lead, Senco, early years lead, deputy head and moved on to become executive headteacher of two federated primary schools. She has worked with children from reception to year 12 in a variety of education settings, ranging from small rural village schools to large multicultural schools in London's east-end.

She has trained school staff and governors on various topics including RAISEonline, the SEND Code of Practice, and subject leadership and governance issues and has shared good practice on federations with governors and others. She has also led mentoring programmes for staff working on HLTA and PGCE courses.

Maria is currently working with governor services to improve school governance and also has a role as SEN Lead within a cluster of ten schools, developing links between headteachers and governors to ensure good practice and financial value for money.

Professional qualifications

Maria holds a Bachelor of Education degree in English and the National Professional Qualification for Headship. She has also completed the National Clerks Development Programme.
