Mike is a former Director of Public Health and Director of Health Improvement, who has a passion for improving the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities. He has 30 years' experience working within the NHS, Local Government and the Third Sector, the majority at a senior leadership level.
Mike has a detailed understanding of strategic place-based partnership working and system leadership, and has led and delivered numerous health improvement strategies, change management, quality improvement and development programmes, as well as commissioning and delivering services. He has extensive experience within children and young people agenda, Chairing Lancashire’s Family Nurse Partnership and Youth Justice Boards, Child Death Overview Panel, and was an active member of Lancashire’s Safeguarding and Children’s Trust Boards, and worked closely with The Troubled Families Team.
As an experienced Public Health professional, Mike has an extensive understanding of the wider determinants of health and wellbeing and the impact this has on children and families. He is an experienced Executive Coach and is a certified Practitioner for Insights Discovery psychological profiling. He has extensive training experience within health and wellbeing, leadership, personal and team development, across NHS, Local Government and the third sector. Having an active interest in early intervention and self-care, Mike has written a chapter for a multi-professional national resource guide Health Coaching: Better Conversations, Better Health published in September 2016.
Mike is passionate about individual, team and organisational growth, and in particular how people can work together to achieve and deliver great things.
Mike is a qualified Public Health Professional, holds a BA in Physical Education and Mathematics, an MSc in Health Care Policy and Organisation, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Health Education. He has participated in and contributed to numerous leadership programmes over the years, including aspiring Director, professional leadership and team development programmes, particularly for multidisciplinary teams.
