Children’s Minister, Edward Timpson reports the fifth cohort of the ‘Step up to Social Work’ initiative which will start in January 2018, asking for graduates to apply before 5 May. There are 550 places available (400 more than the previous cohort) for the 14-month course and trainees will receive a bursary of more than £19,000. Applicants must have a minimum 2:1 degree, or a 2:2 degree alongside a higher degree, such as a master's degree or a Postgraduate Certificate in Education.
He believes this initiative offers an incredible opportunity to start a career helping children and families and looks forward to engaging with the next generation of social workers who will be transforming lives.
