Minister of Justice plan for a young offender mental health programme

The Youth Justice Minister has announced that the Ministry of Justice and NHS England are working together to develop a £24m programme targeting mental health support for young offenders to  improve gaps in mental health treatment for young people in trouble with the police.

They are unclear at present how the funding will be spent but it is part of the £114m package which is to spent on vulnerable groups between 2016 and 2021. There has been a total of 58 young people admitted to child and adolescent unit since 2014.
