BCP Council - ATHE Level 4 - Working with Children, individuals and families.
We recently delivered two successful cohorts of the Level 4 qualification in Working with Children, Individuals and Families. Across three key units – Engagement and Communication, Working with Families: Assessment and Planning, and Supporting Independence and Self-Reliance , participants built knowledge, confidence, and practical skills directly linked to their day-to-day roles.
Staff from a range of services, including family support, schools, edge-of-care and parenting, created portfolios of evidence through assignments, case studies, and reflective practice. They connected learning to real-world situations, explored current policies, and developed fresh approaches to working with families.
The Results
- Stronger relationships with children and families
- Improved assessment and planning skills
- Increased confidence in supporting independence
- Enhanced outcomes for families across services
This programme not only gave staff a nationally recognised qualification but also empowered them to make an immediate and lasting impact in their roles.
Learner feedback included:
"I feel more confident to have those difficult conversations and ask professionally curious questions."
"The face-to-face training has built my confidence and allowed me to explore different approaches to supporting families. It has also allowed me to share experience and hear others experiences which in turn has influenced how I support families moving forward. I have seen the value in reflective practice and using a range of tools to support my work such as, motivational interviewing and the restorative approach. I have also understood better the benefits and main purpose of certain tools we use to gain information and understanding of the family such as, genograms and echo maps. This has given me more confidence in my ability to support families in a meaningful way."
"The support given from the trainer was superb in helping us to feel the work was manageable alongside our full-time jobs and whilst going through a period of change in our organisation. Her knowledge, passion and experience was very motivating. The training days were always looked forward to. Clare made us feel welcomed and part of a team and valued. Her feedback to our work was confidence building! "
