East Sussex - ATHE Level 4 - Working with Children, individuals and families
We were thrilled to work with East Sussex and their Early Help key workers to complete our level 4 qualification.
The staff consisted of key workers and seniors who were predominantly focussed on supporting children back into education. They had a whole family remit and were skilled and knowledgeable in their roles with clear identity and purpose.
All learners completed the full 3 units of the qualification which are:
· Unit 1 - Engagement and Communication - Building Effective Relationships
· Unit 2 – Working with families - Assessment, Tools and Planning
· Unit 3 - Supporting family members towards independence and self – reliance.
The qualification requires learners to complete a portfolio of evidence comprising knowledge-based assignments, case studies, reflective accounts, practice examples, and manager testimonies. There are also observations of practice and understanding completed through the training sessions where they work together to assess need and create family plans.
All 11 staff members registered, completed and passed in the allocated time and evaluations identified that 100% of learners rated the following questions as 'Excellent':
- The training overall?
- The purpose and rationale of the training to your role?
- The support and guidance through the qualification?
- Your trainer's skills and knowledge?
Feedback from learners on the impact of the course to their practice included:
I felt confident from the start that Clare would do everything necessary to make sure took something meaningful from the course. I felt that her own wide-ranging experience was really inspiring and the content was all really relevant and useful (which is not the case in every training course I have undertaken previously!)
I found the course evaluable to my current role of keywork and learned so much through completing it. The Importance of assessing whole family needs holistically and ensuring each family members voices are heard and included in the plan stayed with me through discussing real life situations. The trainer was an excellent facilitator and made it a pleasure to complete the course with positive specific feedback through out.
