LB Hillingdon Council – Trauma Informed Practice Training
Interface are working together with Hillingdon Council to provide training across the workforce on Trauma informed Practice. Facilitating sessions via: 2 x full day face to face training days and 3 embedding workshops, with managers and frontline staff within social care teams.
The frontline delivery has involved working with culturally diverse groups in a variety of roles within social care teams including Court Team, Children with Disabilities Team, Adolescents Team, Child Protection Team, Out of hours, Kinship Team, Assessment Team, Parenting & fostering Team and Adult Social Care.
Participants have a wide range of knowledge, skills and experience, from student social workers to those with over 25yrs in the field. This dynamic created valuable conversations about practice and internal systems and processes, which contributed to the identification of further opportunities for learning, together with improved peer support moving forwards.
Within the sessions we creatively explored core aspects of trauma informed practice from an operational perspective, considering how the learning could be applied and embedded in their every day work. Interactive tasks and group discussions provided opportunities for participants to take time to share and reflect on their own practices and further their understand of the importance of working in a trauma informed way - whilst also recognising the impact of this work on themselves.
