London Borough of Tower Hamlets - ATHE Level 4 - Working with Children, individuals and families
We are delighted to continue to run the Level 4 qualification in working with Children, Individuals, and Families with Tower Hamlets. The qualification is now embedded into their family working and this marks the 10th cohort - we have already started cohort 11.
Through our relationship with Tower Hamlets, we can ensure the course aligns with their internal ‘Better Together’ practice framework and language guidelines.
The qualification is divided into 3 units:
· Unit 1 - Engagement and Communication - Building Effective Relationships
· Unit 2 – Working with families - Assessment, Tools and Planning
· Unit 3 - Supporting family members towards independence and self – reliance.
Learners completed a portfolio comprising knowledge-based assignments, case studies, reflective accounts, practice examples, and manager testimonies. There were also observations of practice and understanding completed through the training sessions where they work together to assess need and create family plans.
Their roles included family support workers, play and education staff and learning and development staff.
Feedback from learners on the impact of the course to their practice included:
I will approach my role with more confidence, structure and intention. the course has helped me strengthen my confidence and deepened my understanding of how to support families more effectively. I will start using new tools learned during the course such as the different models of working to work in a more structured and goal-focused way. I will start using more reflective skills, encouraging myself to think critically about my practice and make meaningful changes. Learning has sparked a stronger interest in family support work, particularly in areas like parenting, early intervention and emotional well-being. it has also made me consider future opportunities in leadership or management as I now have a better understanding of how services are coordinated and delivered.
The program was designed and delivered very well, with clear structure and engaging content. the trainer was highly knowledgeable and shared a lot of useful information that was relevant to real-life practice. The interactive style of delivery made the sessions more engaging and the group work activities were especially helpful, as they allowed us to share ideas, reflect on different approaches and learn from one another, making the learning more meaningful.
