Mediation – Supporting a Positive Way Forward
We were recently asked to support two senior colleagues whose working relationship had become strained following organisational change and increased operational pressures. As is often the case in complex service environments, both individuals were committed to their roles and to achieving the best outcomes for the people they serve, but differences in communication, expectations, and decision-making had begun to impact the effectiveness of the relationship.
Through a structured and confidential mediation process, we worked individually with each party to understand their perspectives and priorities before bringing them together in a supported joint conversation. The focus was not on blame, but on rebuilding understanding, clarifying roles and expectations, and agreeing practical ways of working going forward.
The mediation resulted in a clear, jointly agreed plan covering communication, decision-making, and ongoing support arrangements. Both participants reported feeling heard, reassured, and positive about moving forward, with renewed confidence in their working relationship.
