Nottinghamshire County Council - Early Years Mental Health Training
We began working with Nottinghamshire County Council during 2024 to address the concerns around young children’s emotional wellbeing and mental health in the county. This important work aims to equip every PVI early years setting with skilled practitioners who can support their teams to meet the emotional needs of every child, and their family. The 2-part workshops explore child development and the underpinning theory before building on skills and current good practice to enable practitioners to work alongside families and colleagues in a holistic way.
The programme outcomes are:
- Practitioners understand that children will respond in a number of ways to the above
- Practitioners will be able to recognise a range of presenting needs within young children
- Practitioners will feel skilled to support the young child and family where appropriate
- Practitioners will feel skilled to build confidence and bounce-back-ability in young children
- Practitioners will be able to support families and carers to seek further support e.g. referring on to relevant organisations
Following the delivery of all workshops, we are pleased to also be creating a range of legacy materials that will continue to support all early years settings across the county in their aim of ensuring the best start in life for their children from birth onwards.
