PACT - 2 Day Supervision Training for Managers

Overview

The delivery in March 2026 follows a long relationship with PACT and their staff support and training, the programme focused on developing confident, reflective supervisors who could effectively support staff, manage performance and improve outcomes.

Using real feedback and live practice examples, the training ensured that learning was immediately applicable within PACT’s operational context.

PACT identified the need to further develop supervision practice to ensure:

  • consistency across teams
  • stronger reflective supervision
  • improved staff support and wellbeing
  • effective oversight of complex casework
  • alignment with trauma-informed and relational practice

Managers had varied experience in delivering supervision, and while many were confident in their roles, there was a need to create a more consistent, reflective and structured approach across the organisation.

The training needed to go beyond theory — equipping managers with practical tools they could apply immediately.

Our Approach

We designed and delivered a highly interactive 2-day supervision programme, tailored specifically to PACT’s services and values.

The training combined:

  • reflective supervision models
  • practical tools and frameworks
  • real case discussions
  • peer learning and group reflection

Managers were encouraged to bring real supervision challenges into the room, ensuring the training was grounded in practice and directly relevant.

Measurable Impact

Feedback data showed clear improvements across all key learning areas.

  • Use of reflective practice improved, with strong movement from basic understanding to confident application
  • Confidence in managing performance showed one of the biggest shifts, with most learners reporting improved capability
  • Commitment to enhancing supervision practice increased, including the use of coaching conversations and feedback approaches

Overall training ratings were exceptionally high:

  • 100% of participants rated the training as good or excellent
  • Trainer knowledge and delivery received the highest possible feedback from all attendees
  • Recommendation scores were extremely strong, with the majority rating the training 9 or 10 out of 10

Impact on Practice

Managers identified clear changes they would implement immediately, including:

  • increasing the use of reflective practice
  • creating more supervisee-led sessions
  • asking more purposeful and challenging questions
  • improving preparation for supervision
  • prioritising protected time for meaningful supervision
  • embedding trauma-informed approaches
  • adapting supervision style to individual staff needs

There was a strong shift toward less transactional and more relational supervision, with a focus on safety, reflection and professional growth.

Learner Experience

Feedback highlighted a highly positive training experience:

  • “The 2 days were superb”
  • “Best training so far in PACT”
  • “Never had training like this – loved it”
  • “Brilliant — thank you”

Participants valued the balance of theory, discussion and practical application, as well as the opportunity to reflect on their own supervision style.

This has contributed to:

  • more consistent supervision practices
  • stronger reflective culture
  • improved staff support and development
