PACT - Motivational Interviewing
This one day course set out to give learners an overview of the key principles and techniques used within a Motivational Interviewing approach.
We explored the origins of Motivational Interviewing before using the cycle of change model to apply key skills such as the use of questions, reflective listening and how to respond to resistance.
PACT work within settings that require many of these techniques, to understand motivation to change, to help families understand change and for practitioners to use the correct motivational interviewing processes to help move families forward when someone they know is released from prison.
The course introduced a lot of practice techniques to increase awareness and help practitioners listen out for change, barriers to change, and sustain talk.
