Supporting Oldham’s Ambition to Give Every Child the Best Start in Life

Interface Enterprises was delighted to work with Oldham Council to design and facilitate the Best Start in Life Partnership Conference on 27 November 2025 — a highly successful event that brought together around 100 leaders and practitioners from across health, education, early years, family support and the voluntary sector. The energy in the room was exceptional, reflecting the deep commitment across Oldham to improving outcomes for children and families.

The conference created a shared space for partners to explore what Best Start in Life means for Oldham and how collective action can drive change. Through keynote inputs, interactive discussions and facilitated exercises, participants examined local early years data, identified strengths, surfaced challenges and shaped early priorities for system improvement. Using Oldham’s traffic-light data, we supported partners to reflect on areas of need, patterns of deprivation and opportunities to target support more effectively.

We also guided structured conversations on alignment with the national Best Start strategy, the benefits for families and services, and the changes required across the partnership. These discussions generated clear themes — including the need for earlier engagement (particularly antenatally), more culturally competent and inclusive practice, stronger data sharing, integrated district-level working and consistent messaging across the system. Partners closed the session by making individual pledges setting out one action they would personally take forward, demonstrating a genuine shared commitment to ongoing improvement.
