West Sussex County Council- Child Development, Attachment and Trauma for NQSW’s

This two day course is for Newly Qualified Social Workers who are working with children and families.

The course seeks to support you in increasing your knowledge and the practical tools that you can apply so that you can improve your assessment of attachment in service users and support reparative actions.

The course aims provide you attendees with an overview of attachment theory, the impact of trauma of children’s development and how we can deliver Trauma responsive services that respond to these needs.  

Learning Outcomes:

  • Recognise relevant theory and models.
  • Explain links to the Signs of Safety Practice Framework.
  • Describe and recognise barriers to relationships.
  • List and apply observation and assessment tools.
  • Recognise and apply relationship building tools/interventions.
  • Apply good practice in report writing/recording.
  • Create a development plan to further improve your practice.
