Cinzia is an addiction family specialist who has also extensive therapeutic experience of working in the statutory and charity sector with individuals, couples and families presenting a variety of complex problems. She draws from a number of therapeutic evidenced based models to best fit the needs of the client group and the presenting issues. Cinzia is passionate about working with families and children, issues of safeguarding and she is committed to learning and training others in the field.
From 2007 -14 Cinzia was the Leader of Therapeutic Services at For Families, Action on Addiction, managing and supervising a core team of 5 counsellors, sessional workers and volunteers delivering high quality therapeutic interventions to individuals, couples, families and children affected by addiction. She also developed a variety of bespoke and accredited training as well as providing individual, group supervision and consultation.
Cinzia played a key role in developing, manualizing and leading M-PACT (Moving Children and Parents Together) a ‘whole family’ therapeutic intervention to address the effects of parental substance misuse on children. In order to take M-PACT to the next level Cinzia developed training accredited by Bath University so that the programme could be replicated under licence throughout the UK. M-PACT has been successfully adopted by over 30 organisations to date including the prison service, multi-disciplinary teams and the charity sector. Cinzia oversaw the clinical implementation of M-PACT in schools as a result of a joint partnership between Action on Addiction and the Place2be. She led the training delivery of M-PACT and provided clinical supervision for the delivery of two M-PACT programmes as part of a pilot project in four areas of the UK (Essex, Manchester, Durham and London).
Cinzia is an experienced trainer and has designed three CPD units accredited by Bath University:
- Addiction from a family perspective (12 credits).
- Families living dangerously-living with domestic abuse &substance misuse in collaboration with Safelives (formerly CAADA) (6 credits)
- Supervision & self-care in the context of addiction (6 credits)
Other bespoke training include Hidden Harm, Supervision , Motivational Interviewing Systemic perspective and ‘Whole Family’ work, Mental Health, Domestic Abuse &Substance Misuse delivered to organizations such as Relate, Tower Hamlets , Schools, the Place2be, Wiltshire and Essex Drug and Alcohol commissioners.

Cinzia Altobelli MSc, RGN is a UKCP registered psychotherapist & clinical supervisor. She has a nursing background, qualified as a counsellor in 1992 and completed an MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy in 2005 at the Metanoia Institute. Cinzia is also an experienced clinical supervisor, has completed a Supervision Certificate in 2011 and is on the UKCP list of approved supervisors. In addition to this Cinzia has a certificate in Motivational Interviewing working with families, a certificate in Counselling skills working therapeutically with children and is currently undertaking a Diploma in Personal Performance Coaching.
