Jahsynth Ramsay

Jahsynth is a skilled safeguarding professional with over 15 years’ experience working with children, young people, and their families. As a Qualified Social Worker, she has worked in both statutory and voluntary settings in a variety of roles across London and Essex. Jahsynth has many years’ experience working with partner agencies to secure positive outcomes including health, education, police and voluntary and community groups. Alongside her main role, Jahsynth continues to support and supervise student social workers.

Overall Jahsynth’s aim is to support children, young people, families and the professionals who support them to achieve positive outcomes. Working with schools Jahsynth, has supported colleagues to develop their Early Help offer and regular delivers training as part of whole school INSET days.

Jahsynth has played a significant role in the developing of new services and processes within Local Authorities, including the development of the Safeguarding Adolescents agenda. As a lead trainer, Jahsynth has trained professionals in the new Safeguarding Adolescents model and delivered the train the trainer package.

Jahsynth has experience of redesigning and developing teams including the adolescent’s support team who support young people at risk of exploitation using a contextual safeguarding framework.

Through experienced gained in both strategic and frontline work with young people, Jahsynth’s main area of focus is safeguarding adolescents. Currently Jahsynth is one of the panel Chairs for the Exploitation and Risk panel which relates to extra-familial harm. Jahsynth has been a guest lecturer at the University of East London for the Criminology Course.

Another key area of focus is Equality and Diversity and Jahsynth has been working with organisations to prioritise their staff well-being and addressing areas of inequality. As a trainer for Mental Health First Aid England Jahsynth has supported practitioners to develop their skills to identify and support young people’s Mental Health. As a plenary speaker, Jahsynth supports training to prospective Mental Health First Aiders on Race and Mental Health. Training is provided to various organisations, most notably to Shelter staff in 2021.

Jahsynth is currently working within Community Safety as a manger leading on Serious Violence and exploitation. In this role Jahsynth has developed key partnerships with key partners and includes contract monitoring of commissioned contracts. Jahsynth also manages a frontline service of practitioners providing support to young people at risk of exploitation.
