Laura Aspin
Laura brings to Interface specialist expertise and a passion around Special Educational Needs. She has extensive experience as a teacher (mainly Key Stage 1 and 2), senior leader: Deputy Headteacher, Acting Headteacher and Special educational needs and/or disabilities coordinator (SENDCo). She is also Nurture Group trained.
Laura also works in special education settings and is currently a Profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) teacher but also has wide ranging experience of post 16 neurodivergent young people.
She is passionate about making a real and tangible difference both in her training, upskilling practitioners and managers and in her teaching believing that education should enable students to become independent inquirers, self-motivated and self-disciplined, providing situations in which they can acquire skills and learn by discovery and first-hand experience with resilience and a thirst to learn.
Safeguarding has been fundamental to each setting she has worked in, and she has held the positions of Designated Safeguarding Lead and Safe Guarding Lead. This provides huge credibility in her role as a trainer for Interface.
Laura has been an education representative for an area Foster Care panel, jointly overseeing assessments, annual reviews and referrals. She has also been a Looked after Child lead supporting in school and transition.
