Laura Sutton

Laura is a qualified and registered social worker with 26 years’ experience, many of which were in senior roles. She has managed a range of statutory operational social work teams within Children’s Services including; Referral and Assessment; Children In Need/Family Support; Safeguarding/Child Protection; Looked After Children and Leaving Care. She has also been responsible for Private Fostering and Unaccompanied Minors/Asylum Seekers. Laura has extensive senior line management experience of a range of multi-disciplinary services with focus on early intervention, for example CAF/Family Focus Co-ordinators; CAMHS early intervention; Early Years operational teams; Children’s Centres; Educational Psychology and Teaching Support; SEN Additional Needs Co-ordinators and Youth Work and is also experienced in managing teams that provide targeted therapeutic interventions. She has also experience of being a school governor and a Trustee of a Family Mediation Service, in both instances holding the safeguarding lead role.

Her work for Interface has included designing and delivering training around Adverse Childhood Experiences and Trauma informed Practice, supporting leadership teams and embedding performance improvement across Children Services Departments. She has developed and facilitated a wide range of reflective workshops for practitioners and managers. During the early days of the pandemic she developed course and workshop materials to be used in a virtual learning environment.    

Laura is still passionate and motivated to ‘make a difference’, prevent abuse of children and improve outcomes for children who experience disadvantage. She has considerable strategic and operational experience in service review, redesign and implementing change. She is comfortable delivering training and facilitating workshops either face to face or in a virtual environment using platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom. Laura can also offer professional reflective supervision either 1-1 or in small groups.

Laura is a qualified and registered social worker. She has a Post Graduate Certificate in Management in the Caring Professions, a Diploma in Business studies and completed accredited mentor training at the University of East Anglia.
