Millie Cummings
Millie comes to interface as an associate with over 30 years senior management experience within the Statutory, Voluntary & Private sectors. She understands LA commissioning, its impact on potential and current customers and has a track record of multi-disciplinary working & influencing at senior corporate level. She is skilled in delivering strategic change, working with sustainable results through decisive leadership & engagement with a range of stakeholders. She is commercially experienced & aware of developing, and marketing new products and vast experience of disciplinary, capability, performance improvement process & people management processes.
On qualifying as a social worker she worked for Probation, was then a member of a multi-disciplinary team at a Family and Child Guidance Clinic, moving to manage teams of social workers in Duty and Assessment and onto Performance Review and Quality Assurance officer. She also has experience of secondments to Ofsted inspecting Safeguarding Practice in Children’s Social Care. Moving to the voluntary sector she managed a range of projects in Barnardo’s including a Sexual Exploitation project in Bradford and in Action for Children took early retirement as Yorkshire and Humber Director with strategic responsibility for Early Help services, Fostering and Adoption services, Residential and Leaving Care and Family Justice services.
She has a keen interest in safeguarding at practitioner, managerial, strategic & corporate levels and is a multi-agency trainer on a range of current topics. Millie promotes analysis and critical thinking in assessment work and has designed and delivered training to Social Work / Education and Health staff. Millie has extensive experience of working with Government agencies and LA up and down the country on issues relating to Domestic Abuse and Reducing Parental Conflict.
She has comprehensive knowledge of the permanence agenda to ensure child centred practice which eliminates drift and allows defensible decision making. Millie undertakes Safeguarding Practice reviews and works with Safeguarding Partnerships to learn lessons were there has been a death of a child or young person.
Millie is passionate about working with families and making sure children and young people have a voice are visible and remain at the centre of all service interventions. She has a keen interest in developing and delivering high quality training for practitioners in the social care and health sectors.
