Siobhan initially qualified as a social worker gaining extensive experience in children and families work as a social worker, senior practitioner and Team Manager in the statutory and non-statutory sector. Her interest in the legal aspects of working with children led her to qualify first as a Barrister and subsequently as a solicitor specialising exclusively in the area of family law. Siobhan has 12 years’ experience in advising and representing in court clients involved in care proceedings, private law children matters, domestic violence, cohabitation, adoption, divorce and matrimonial finances. In 2011 Siobhan and her husband became foster carers and cared for 2 young siblings involved in contentious care proceedings whom they went on to adopt last year. They continue to foster children on a respite basis.
Siobhan has found the experience of being on 'every side of the fence' both challenging and rewarding. She now uses her professional and personal experience in training professionals in court skills, the new Public Law Outline, preparing and presenting written evidence, and legal care planning.'
Siobhan has a BA (Hons) in Social Policy and Administration, Certificate of Qualification in Social Work, Postgraduate Diploma in Law and Bar Vocational Course. She is a member of the Solicitors Regulation Authority Family Law Panel. Siobhan has undertaken numerous continuing education courses in all aspects of family law and therapeutic work with children as part of her training as a foster carer.
