Tony McGhee

Tony is a highly qualified social work professional with a wide range of experiences from high profile roles and positions within child and family statutory social work.

His experience includes managing a Children Protection Intensive Support team, designing this multi-disciplinary service through to it becoming operational. He has also previously chaired Child Protection and Family Support conferences, and has managed an Adoption Support service. His experience also includes the role of an Independent Reviewing Officer for children who are part of the “Looked After” system.

Since working as a social work consultant he has supervised and mentored newly qualified social workers during their first year as practitioners for one local authority. This also included presenting and facilitating action learning sets for social workers as part of their ongoing training and development.

He is passionate about the importance of quality supervision for social workers and enabling them to recognise the impact that this difficult role can have on individual emotional well-being.

Tony has completed his social work qualification and added as part of his continued personal development a Master's degree in Social Work Research and an Executive Diploma in Management. He also completed the foundation year at the Institute of Group Analysis, London.
