Changes to the way in which Youth offending teams (YOTs) are assessed announced

At the end of August YOT grading will fall into line with the grading system used by schools and children's services with inspection reports graded "outstanding", "good", "requires improvement" or "inadequate" with the expectation that this will help improve performance and better measure how YOT’s are helping to improve young people's lives.

Grades will be awarded in each of four categories -governance and leadership, staff, partnerships and services, and information and facilities, as well as for overall effectiveness.

Outstanding ratings will be awarded to YOT’s who are able to demonstrate they are innovative and creative, proactive, open and transparent, supportive and inclusive and can respond to trends and collaborate well with local partners.
