Charities call for ‘meaningful’ children’s social care review.

An open letter has been sent to the Education Secretary by a group of 27 charities and organisations demanding a ‘meaningful’ review of the care system for children and young people.

The group, which includes Adoption UK, Become, Action for Children, Barnados and the NSPCC has called upon Gavin Williamson to follow through on commitments made in the Conservative Party manifesto which promised a “bold and broad… independently led” review with the aim of ‘better supporting, protecting and improving the outcomes of vulnerable children and young people”.

Alongside the letter, the group have provided Mr Williamson with recommended aims, scope and principles of the review to ensure it has the potential to deliver meaningful and lasting change for children and their families.
