Can we help you with Family Group Decision making training?

The new Children’s Welfare Bill is expecting all local authorities to offer family group decision making so that all families have an opportunity to form a plan of family-led care.

It is a local authority’s decision to decide which model of family group decision making will best serve the families they support after considering the evidence.

We are steeped in best practice in this area and can provide support in understanding the evidence base, consultancy support in exploring the best options for you and training.

 How we can help

We can provide a 2-day skills-based course on running effective family meetings and ensuring collaboration with families (not doing to).

This will support the workforce to:

  • Work in partnership with families to identify strengths and risks, manage expectations and work smarter.
  • Build confidence and skills in chairing and attending meetings as well as working in partnership with multi agency partners towards a collective agreement and plan.

We also have a Family Group Conference CPD accredited course provided over 3 days.

This course provides participants with the skills, knowledge and confidence to facilitate Family Group Conferences.

Participants will develop a working knowledge of FGCs, including understanding the skills in preparing for the FGC, managing the meeting and the process that follows and recognising the complexities of family-led decision-making.
