DfE Seeks Primary Teachers for SEN Research Study

The Department for Education is inviting reception and primary teachers across England to take part in new research exploring how special educational needs (SEN) are identified and supported in mainstream schools.

The study aims to build a clearer picture of current classroom practices, focusing on how teachers recognise SEN and select appropriate support strategies for pupils.

Participating teachers will be asked to attend a one-hour Microsoft Teams interview in May 2026, sharing their professional experiences. Those who take part will receive a £50 voucher as a thank-you for their time.

The opportunity is open to reception and primary teachers working in mainstream settings. Interested professionals can submit an expression of interest and will be contacted with further details.

The findings are expected to inform future policy and guidance around SEN identification and support in primary education.
