Funding Open for Social Cohesion Projects

Charities, community groups, and social enterprises can now apply for new government funding designed to strengthen social cohesion and build more connected, resilient communities across England.

The Common Ground Award, delivered through the UK Government’s Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, offers capital grants of up to £10,000. The fund supports organisations that want to improve or create community spaces, buy essential equipment, or enhance facilities that bring people together.

Projects could include refurbishing a community hall, developing an outdoor meeting area, creating an accessible digital hub, or purchasing resources that enable shared activities and events. The fund aims to support places where people from different backgrounds and life experiences can meet, collaborate, and build understanding.

Applications are particularly encouraged from voluntary and community sector organisations that are locally rooted and working to improve connections between diverse groups. Initiatives that promote inclusion, shared learning, and local pride are especially welcomed.

Applications are open until 21 November 2025. Successful projects are expected to demonstrate clear community benefit and long-term sustainability beyond the life of the grant.
