London VRU announces £2m investment in summer activities for young Londoners

The London Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) has launched a £2m initiative to fund hundreds of activities across the capital over the summer period.

Funding has been made available to grassroots organisations, charities and local authorities, to provide access to support and positive things to do for young people in areas of the capital most affected by violence.

The programme includes support for:

  • 16 grassroots, community-led groups to deliver targeted interventions and support for more than 3,200 young people. Projects include music production, business creation and support, digital storytelling and mentoring.
  • 20 organisations to deliver a range of sports provision over the holidays, including cricket, basketball, table tennis, badminton, football, boxing, cycling training, dance

Additionally their MyEnds programme is providing activities and support for about 1,500 young people, alongside investment in all 32 London boroughs to provide violence reduction initiatives through youth work and mentoring.
