OFSTED report considers child vulnerability

Ofsted has commissioned a project to look at how education, childcare and children’s social care professionals understand vulnerability and to explore the different ways professionals think about it.

The aim is to inform Ofsted’s thinking about vulnerability as it considers how to evaluate inclusion as part of the renewed education inspection framework (EIF). The work of the project will also help Ofsted consider how vulnerability might be defined and understood in a way that can be applied across all the remits it inspects and regulates.

Research findings include suggestions about how the proposed definition of vulnerability might be used by settings and services across childcare, education and social care, and what Ofsted might wish to consider in how it uses the definition to inform thinking about inclusion in inspection and regulation.
