Reading Councillors vote unanimously to bring children’s services back ‘in-house’
Councillors in Reading have given unanimous approval to bring back it’s children’s services under council control when the six year contract awarded to Brighter Futures for Children (BFfC) expires in March 2026. A final decision will be made by the council next month.
Reading Council leader, Liz Terry said that, whilst Brighter Futures for Children had “made progress” to improve children’s services there still remained “much work to be done”.
She added ““I want to place on record my enormous gratitude to BFfC staff, whose commitment and dedication to children in Reading is without question. We are committed to ensuring those same children and young people are not affected as we go through this process.
“Our overall ambition remains to further improve the quality and stability of Children’s Services in Reading, and to ensure the best possible outcomes for our children and young people.”
