Lockdown brings misery to hundreds more children each week.

Childline has revealed that hundreds more children are suffering abuse and neglect during the Covid19 lockdown.

Data recently released by the children’s charity indicates that reports of domestic abuse have jumped by 50% across the UK. In the week of 17 April alone the charity carried out 663 counselling sessions where children reported experiencing physical, sexual, emotional abuse or neglect.

A spokesperson for the NSPCC said: “We are increasingly concerned about the number of children who will experience abuse or neglect due to the impact of coronavirus, with families struggling with lockdown, job losses and school closures.”
