Campaign group Article 39 has announced the launch of its Keep Caring for Children up to 18 campaign.

The campaign which has been established in response to the government’s consultation on unregulated accommodation for children in care and care leavers which proposes that, whilst 16 and 17 year-olds would still be able to live in supported accommodation, the new standards proposed on care would not be applied.

The campaign focuses on the following three goals:

  • Raising awareness of the Department for Education’s consultation among care experienced people, parliamentarians and the wider public.
  • Supporting new standards for semi-independent and independent accommodation for care leavers aged 18 and beyond, with registration and inspection by Ofsted.
