The government has announced the appointment of Keith Fraser as the new chair of the Youth Justice Board for England & Wales.
Fraser, a former senior police officer and a YJB board member since January 2018, has previously led the YJB’s work on understanding and tackling racial disproportionality in the youth justice system.
The appointment is for an initial three year period and follows a 32 year career in the police force in London and the West Midlands, where Fraser rose to the rank of superintendent. He is also chair of Employability UK, a trustee of Sport Birmingham and an ambassador for Clean Sheet UK.
Fraser said: “Having dedicated my career to creating opportunities for children and working in the justice system, I am honoured to be appointed chair of the Youth Justice Board.
“The role will enable me to have a continued focus on improving outcomes for children and I look forward to working closely with ministers, board members, staff and partners to deliver our vision.”
