From September 2019 Ofsted will look to judge local services on their joint response to children mental ill health.
The new regime will look to understand how Council’s, the police, health professionals and schools are working together to improve child mental health. The reviews will also pay particular attention to how agencies assess and support children aged 10 to 15 who are subject to child protection or child in need plans or who are looked-after.
Ofsted’s national director for Social Care, Yvette Stanley said:
“At a time when local authorities and their health partners are making difficult decisions about resources, it's important that the needs of children with mental ill health are being met. These inspections will help us to see where children's mental health needs are being met and where things need to improve."
