OFSTED has announced that it has increased the remit of its national director for social care by adding responsibility for the regulation of childcare and childcare policy.
Current incumbent, Yvette Stanley, will now lead a newly amalgamated team responsible for early years regulation and social care with her title changing to National Director for Regulation and Social Care. Early years regulation previously came under the remit of Ofsted’s education team.
The new directorate has responsibility for OFSTED’s work as regulator, their regulatory strategy across all remits, and for children’s social care. The change is said to have strengthened OFSTED’s strategic capacity overseeing regulatory policy and practice.
The changes came into force in April but have only just been publicised.
