Staff Support and Supervision

Supervision is a vital part of effective working with individuals and families with multiple and complex needs.  It enables the manager and organisation to identify risks in cases, manage worker stress and reflective practice and address worker competence and gaps in learning.  We have developed and deliver a two day programme based on our work with multiple organisation and practitioner feedback   The course develops managers who feel able to address issues and support workers to meet the needs of vulnerable children and families.

The course receives excellent feedback. See more about the course and the learning outcomes.

Motivational Interviewing

Working effectively with individuals and families with multiple and complex needs requires staff to bring about change and improvements in outcomes. Motivational interviewing is a powerful technique in bringing about behaviour change. This course will provide you with knowledge and awareness how to use motivational interviewing as a technique. You will consider the cycle of change and consider how to work with ambivalence. There will be opportunities to practice the techniques as well! View more details about this and what the key learning outcomes are

Assessing parental Capacity to Change (C-Change)

C-Change focuses specifically on parental capacity to change, with the aim of improving practitioner skills, providing a framework and better informing planning and decision-making. We know that there is limited availability of good quality assessment methods for practitioners regarding parental capacity to change, and C-Change fills an important gap. We have partnered with the The University of Bristol  to deliver this approach which is of particular interest to:

  • Social workers - to assist decision-making, when care proceedings are being considered and in planning to reunite children.
  • Early Help Practitioners working with children and their families.

We have received fantastic feedback on the difference this is making to practice. See more  about the C-Change approach >>here<<
