Risk assessment when supporting families

Working effectively with individuals and families with multiple and complex needs requires staff to consider and assess risk.

This practical programme will provide you with an understanding of risk as well as provide you with the skills to be able to create, use and respond to risk ensuring that you are able to support and work effectively with individuals and families with multiple and complex needs.  The course will include what its like for practitioners to hold risk and manage interventions.

It is suitable for front line staff working on the Early Help/Troubled families agenda as well as school staff, children services, those in early years settings, the VCS, Housing and Health.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understand what a risk assessment is and its purpose.
  • Understand the content of a risk assessment and who should be involved in its construction.
  • Be able to construct and use a risk assessment.
  • Be able to respond to different levels of risk.
