Giving and receiving feedback

Feedback is a ’gift’ but does it feel like that?

We know that when done in the right way and with the right intentions, feedback can lead to significantly improved performance and that top performing organisations and individuals are consistently search for ways to make themselves better.

Feedback provides valuable information but for it to be useful it needs to be delivered carefully and frequently.

Giving feedback is a skill and, like all skills, it takes practice to get it right. Our one day course will help learners to:

  • give praise and criticism constructively
  • create a safe and open environment in which feedback is expected and welcomed
  • understand the preferred social or communication style of their team members and adapt their feedback approach to achieve the best results
  • use a simple planning tool to ensure that the feedback they give is understood and accepted
  • establish an expectation for change by demanding commitment and building in a time to follow up on the required performance or behaviour
  • use praise and criticism to distinguish between desired and unwanted behaviours
  • recognise and overcome the fears that may prevent them from speaking candidly
  • be comfortable receiving feedback and using this to feed into improvements
  • All courses are offered on a Face to Face or Virtual basis.
