Unconscious Bias
When working with children, young people, complex individuals and families it is important that we understand that we all have unconscious bias and that we need to manage this in our practice to ensure that we can suspend judgement and demonstrate unconditional positive regard for all our clients.
This course supports learners to develop their own awareness and understanding of how unconscious bias can impact on individuals, services and decision making, sometimes contributing to under or over representation of service users, disproportionality in approaches and potentially limited expectations. It will support them to be able to promote a fair and reasonable approach with all service users, colleagues and stakeholders.
" Fortunately for serious minds, a bias recognised is a bias sterilised". Benjamin Haydon
"Everyone is a prisoner of his own experiences. No one can eliminate prejudices - just recognise them." Edward R. Murrow
