Violence against women and girls (VAWG)
We have created a training offer specifically around violence against women and girls (VAWG).
Research has demonstrated that:
- there are knowledge/skills/understanding gaps around VAWG including readiness to enquire, seeking the views of the child, referring and providing support
- there is a need for training that:
- increases awareness to support a change in attitude and misconceptions
- strengthens the skills and confidence in this area
- many of those working with vulnerable individuals, children and families have experienced domestic abuse themselves
We can provide a range of training programmes tailor made to suit the needs of your team/service/organisation. Please talk to us about your specific requirements.
Here is an example of what our 2-day introductory programme would cover:
- What is VAWG?
- What behaviours does it cover
- How is it different from other types of crime?
- The national and local context
- The nuances and barriers to reporting
- The difference between the crime type and the disproportionate impact on women and girls as well as the impact on other marginalised groups
- Beliefs among young people, women and men – what is normal? normalised? societal norms
- Intersectionality
- How to be curious and ask questions in a trauma informed way
- Consider links to role – how to support/refer as well as explore processes and policies that support/hinder
We can also provide consultancy support to:
- capture knowledge and insight (using our evaluation techniques)
- scope provision
- measure impact
- co create strategies to support prevention of VAWG
- drive system change
- create and support ‘change champions’
