Contextual Safeguarding
Young people form different relationships in the home, with their peers, in their neighbourhoods, on social media and in school. Understanding how young people need to navigate these groups and places and the ‘context’ in which young people encounter harm is central to your ability to provide effective safeguarding.
This course will provide an introduction to contextual safeguarding to help you to better understand how different people, places and spaces impact on young people’s safety.
Content includes:
- The research underpinning contextual safeguarding
- Where and when young people face the risk of harm and exploitation
- The importance of the weighting and interplay of the contextual safeguarding themes
- The importance of mapping hotspots (schools, neighbourhoods etc.)
- Testing out a range of tools to help with contextual safeguarding mapping
- All courses are offered on a Face to Face or Virtual basis.
