Turning National Priorities into Local Practice

For over 15 years, Interface has been helping local authorities turn national priorities into practical local delivery. Originating within the former Families Delivery Team at the Department for Education, we have remained at the forefront of national policy and practice, helping shape, interpret and implement major programmes including Sure Start, Think Family, Family Hubs, Best Start and Families First.

By identifying emerging policy and workforce needs, we develop innovative qualifications, workforce development programmes, consultancy and practical resources that help local systems prepare for change with confidence.

Today, our work includes supporting the implementation of major national programmes such as Families First and Best Start Family Hubs, alongside wider service transformation, leadership development and organisational improvement.

Consultancy

Our work in this area includes:

  • Strategic expert support and constructive challenge to keep plans ambitious and achievable
  • Examining what family group decision making will look like in children services and exploring the barriers and enablers to achieving this locally
  • Service redesign – helping you map the current system, identify gaps, and co-create streamlined, integrated pathways for families e.g. planning for and setting up Family Hub services or setting up Multi agency Child Protection Teams (MACPT's)
  • Governance and partnership advice, ensuring strong leadership and clear accountability
  • Peer support and co-production with partners, the voluntary and community sector, and local communities
  • Commissioning support, including business planning, service specifications, and report writing
  • Facilitating workshops, visioning sessions, and strategic meetings to build consensus and momentum
  • Sharing best practice from across the UK to inspire innovation and improvement

We work collaboratively and flexibly, genuinely putting families at the heart of everything we do—because transformation only works when it’s built with the people it’s designed to serve.

We’ve been at the forefront of whole-family working and integrated service design for many years—supporting local areas across the UK to rethink, redesign, and transform the way services are delivered.

From initial concept through to full roll-out, we’ve worked alongside partners to design and deliver services that meet local needs and deliver real impact.

We’re chosen not just for our history and credibility, but for our deep understanding of the challenges and our passion for achieving the best outcomes for children and families.
