Swansea - Trauma Informed Practice

swansea3

This is a clients area for Swansea Trauma informed Practice learners.

The key goal of trauma-informed practice is to raise awareness about the wide impact of trauma and to prevent any re-traumatisation for children, individuals and families we are working alongside to support, protect and build resilience.

In addition, (and importantly) it raises awareness of, and guards against, the impact on staff who may regularly engage with traumatised children and individuals and the risk of staff secondary and vicarious trauma.

Working within a trauma informed framework recognises the widespread impact of trauma and signs and symptoms of trauma in clients, ourselves and the wider organisation.

Building trauma informed organisations requires a response that integrates knowledge about trauma into policies, procedures, and practices.

This starts with direct practice, worker skills and values.
