Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea Level 5 leadership Qualification

We have been working with leaders across RBKC for the last 6 months on the Level 5 Leadership and Management Certificate - Working with Children, Individuals and Families

This is an OFQUAL approved 22 credit Level 5 qualification covering 3 units.

Leadership, Management & Supervision

Learners considered their values and organisational values, the difference between leadership and management, what constitutes effective leadership, explored their own leadership styles and building resilience and growth in themselves and others.  We had a specific focus on staff support, supervision and performance management.

Building effective relationships

Here we focussed on relationships between all stakeholders involved in working with children, individuals and families. We considered barriers to effective relationship building and how to gain commitment from others by understanding, influencing and negotiating. We spent time evaluating how to use interpersonal skills to remove or overcome challenges or work towards change and used tools and measures to evaluate the success of a range of stakeholder relationships.

Evidencing outcomes and embedding improvements

This unit is around understanding and responding to a variety of national/ local agendas. We specifically focus on quality assurance and data and how this leads to improvement, managing risk, benchmarking and evidencing performance.

This has been provided extremely successfully on a virtual basis as a result of COVID-19 restrictions and our next cohort has recently started. We have been delighted by the level of emotional intelligence and sharing in the room.
