Brighton & Hove – Brain Development

Our one day working with Baby, Child and Teenage Brain Development has become a rolling program in Brighton and Hove. We are always full to capacity and always appreciate the staff engagement and enthusiasm.

Staff have attended from a range of roles and disciplines including schools and colleges, children’s social care, early intervention workers and specialist support services.

The days programme considers the theory and science of brain development and the impact of poverty, neglect and disadvantage may have on child’s social and emotional development.

Learners also gain un understanding of critical windows in brain development and why and support and interventions need to be mindful of these stages.

Importantly we spend time on ‘what helps’ – practical ideas and tools and how these can be encompassed in their roles. We offer tools and resources to use in practice and to support conversations around the importance of this knowledge to parents and co-workers.

Staff feedback shows they feel more confident in their practice and that it is essential learning for all of those who work with children and families.
