Slough Children First - ATHE Level 4 certificate – Working with Children, individuals, and Families.

Slough commissioned an in house course to be delivered to 2 cohorts of staff to strengthen their whole family working, assessments and plans and to validate staff knowledge and practice with an OFQUAL recognized qualification.

 Family workers, complex needs support workers, youth services and probation completed the course of 6 full training sessions, and one to ones, followed by workshops to complete a portfolio of evidence.

Staff have completed written knowledge-based assignments, reflections, case studies and examples of practice in assessing need, creating SMART plans and building independence and self-reliance.

Staff attendance has been excellent and they have built individual strong portfolios of evidence highlighting their work with families, assessing and reflecting on their delivery and the processes in place and identifying areas for development.

 Course Content 

The qualification is run over 3 comprehensive unit these are:

 Unit 1 

Engagement and Communication – Building effective relationships. 

Unit 2 

Assessment, Tools, and Planning 

Unit 3 

Supporting family members towards independence and self-reliance
