Stockton – Leadership Development Programme

We provided a bespoke 10-day leadership programme for a range of leaders across Public Health and Early Help services in Stockton.

Stockton leaders had the foresight to commission this programme after a period of change in commissioning when leaders needed to work collaboratively to meet outcomes, influence, engage to maximise resources, reduce overlap and share knowledge to ensure the right services.

This programme really got under the skin of what leadership is and gave leaders time to think, to learn about themselves and the impact on others. The programme was experiential and dynamic, and we provided several coaching sessions alongside for leaders.

10 days were split over 6 months and content included:

  • Organisational culture, policy environment –partnerships, resources, accountability., political, innovation, integration.
  • Values
  • Leadership vs management
  • Individual, team and organisational leadership theories
  • Relationship management
  • Emotional intelligence
  • Influential thinking around leadership
  • Adaptive leadership
  • Self-awareness and insight
  • Personality preference
  • Learning style
  • Courageous conversations
  • Influencing strategies
  • Change
  • Coaching conversations
  • Business cases
  • Dealing with resistance
  • Your vision for the future
  • Using data for improvement and quality and measuring change
  • Leading improvement
  • Involving service users

And much more!

Feedback included that the programme was ‘this was life changing’, ‘I have gained so much insight about my style on others’, ‘the co consulting was fantastic and we will keep this up’, people around me have noticed how much calmer I am’ etc.

This programme was excellent from beginning to end. Facilitators took time to understand our needs and carefully constructed a programme to support and challenge this. We appreciated the capacity to shape and flex the programme in response to the cohort. There was a balance of high support and high challenge which I felt was beneficial to the group.
